The creation of 20s.depression
It was at this point that during our days in Tilburg 20s.depression came into life.
20s.depression was, and still is, a post-punk art-collective which was really just a very grown-up term that upon closer inspection revealed itself to be:
-
An Instagram account to which we all had access.
-
An apartment in which an alarming amount of people appeared to live at the same time
-
Some level of belief in 20s.depression

For fvckcollege.goroadtrip it functioned as a thinking exercise. 20s.depression functioned as the possibility of designing a future that wasn't constrained by the ideas about what being an adult was given to us by the University, our parents and everybody around us. It was a vehicle for the deconstruction of the beliefs that constrained us.

Ultimately the collective itself never did a whole lot, but it was something that helped us think, in it's existing in the right time at the right place.

The activities that were undertaken during its existence can still be found over at @20s.depression

20s.depression Manifesto
These are the aims and goals of the members of 20s depression
We will no longer affirm the societal facade of production as a means of life
We will no longer affirm the societal facade of wealth as a means of living
We will no longer affirm the societal facade of growth as the only option
We will not let ourselves be limited to pre-existing art forms
We will not let ourselves be limited to pre-existing ways of living
We will no let ourselves be scared by the illusion that is the future
Instead we shall
Attempt to capture our experiences within our art
Attempt to dispel all the forces that pull on us, telling us to subject ourselves to them
Attempt to live life, not according to any plan, instead living it as it comes to us
We shall embrace our ambiguity
We shall embrace our thinking
We shall embrace our actions
In order to understand 20s depression one does not have to be in their 20s
Nor do they have to be depressed
All that is required to understand our collective, is a mind that is open to the possibility that any answers aren’t real
A mind that is open, to there being no universal truth
No universal meaning
It is through pushing the meaning of our existence to the furthest and deepest corners of our consciousness
That we will attempt to explore what is there
We shall be kind to the world
We shall acknowledge that we too, are ideologists, but that any system is ultimately false
We shall describe our sphere of thoughts and art as postpunk, pushing the term to a new meaning, because language is use
In order to be postpunk, one must let go of the pursuit of happiness
In order to be postpunk, one must let go of the pursuit of wealth
In order to be postpunk, one must let go of the pursuit of intellectualism
Instead, one must live organically, interacting with the world as they operate within it
In creating our art we shall always seek to find something that isn’t there
And most importantly, just let us be
